Victorian State Election - November 2006

Dear Australians in south China

For the information of eligible Victorian voters, a state election will be held on Saturday 25 November 2006.

A travel bulletin providing information regarding this election has been posted on the “Smartraveller” website – www.smartraveller.gov.au. The contents of the travel bulletin have been copied below.

The travel bulletin also refers voters to the Victoria Electoral Commission’s website ( www.13vote.com.au ) for more detailed information regarding voting options and procedures, and enrolment.

Please note that while voting facilities will be available in Beijing and Hong Kong for this election, voting facilities will not be available at the Australian Consulate-General in Guangzhou. Please see below the full list of overseas voting centres.

“Smartraveller” Travel Bulletin

Victorian State Election - November 2006

Victorian residents visiting or residing overseas are advised that a Victorian State election will be held on Saturday, 25 November 2006.

Information about the election can be found on the
Victorian Electoral Commission’s website (www.13vote.com.au).

Early voting centres (where electors can vote in person) will be operating throughout Victoria, interstate and overseas. Please see the website for further information.

Victorian electors who wish to apply for a postal vote must complete an ‘Application for a Postal Vote’ before ballot papers can be issued. The application can be downloaded from www.13vote.com.au. If internet access is not available, electors may obtain copies from any of the venues listed above.

The completed ‘Application for a Postal Vote’ should reach an early voting centre in time to allow for the voting material to be returned to you for completion and posting. Please allow extra time for any delays in postal services. Ballot papers will be posted to the electors and must be completed and received prior to 6.00pm on Saturday, 25 November, 2006 (Victorian time).
